Mangaluru, Jun 18: It was a momentous occasion at St Aloysius Pre-University College as the management, faculty and the students gathered to celebrate and honor the distinction holders of the 2022-24 batch. The college has always fostered the young minds with wisdom through its educational programmes and created altruistic individuals for a better society.
The event was a testament to the relentless efforts, hard work of the students, efforts of their parents and the faculty members throughout their academic journey.
The achievements of the students spoke about their commitment, dedication and passion which would serve as an inspiration to others. This year the College has witnessed an exemplary result of 99.51% in the II PU board exams and it was a proud moment for the college to celebrate this accomplishment.
The felicitation ceremony began with a prayer by the college choir followed by a welcome classical dance. Principal Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ welcomed and introduced the chief guest Vinrose Jayapal Pinto. He congratulated and applauded the toppers and all the distinction holders. He acknowledged the efforts of the parents in this journey and the dedication of the staff in mentoring the students. He advised the outgoing students to move ahead by becoming the best version of self by using their knowledge and skill to create a better society.
The chief Guest of the occasion Vinrose Jayapal Pinto, alumnus of this Institution spoke about the potentials that these young citizens possess. He congratulated the achievers on their success and appreciated the parents for their sacrifices and support. He told the students that this is a stage of crucial transition and from now on they should be able to take up their decisions by facing the challenges ahead.
He stressed He stressed that in the examination of life one should always focus on the mental wellbeing, physical wellbeing, and financial wellbeing. He further stated, "What you achieve is not important but what people think and feel about you is important, so always work towards becoming a better human being. You are the stars, so go out to light the world with your brilliance by carrying the legacy of the institution."
Rector of St Aloysius Institutions Fr Melwin Pinto SJ congratulated the young achievers and reminisced the transition of education system over the years and felt that the transition is for the better. He opined that there is more professionalism, hard work and systematic work involved in academics. He conveyed that while success is necessary it is the process which makes a person is more important.
Fr Melwin expressed that this achievement of theirs was small step towards a new beginning and that they keep moving ahead and bring a change in the world through service to the society. Making society a better place is the greatest achievement any person can achieve he told. He urged the students not to forget the efforts of their parents, guardians and all those people who have walked hand in hand with them towards their journey of success.
Three outstanding college achievers K Maanav Ganapathy topper in science, Chiraksha Kulal, topper in commerce and Pragathi Rao Baneri, topper in arts spoke about their journey and experience in the College. Later, Deepthi Rani M K and her team conducted the felicitation to applaud the resilience and commitment of the 1036 distinction holders.
Finance officer Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, campus minister Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, vice principal, Muralikrishna G M, Vilma Fernandes, deans, Dr Pradeep M and Kiran Shetty were also present on the dais. Desma Menezes, convener of the programme expressed her heartfelt appreciation through the vote of thanks. Liliann Benjamin, department of English, compered the programme.
