Mangaluru, Jun 19: Former mayor and BJP district leader Premananda Shetty has criticized the state Congress party for increasing petrol and diesel prices, calling for a massive protest to oppose the hike.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, June 19, at the BJP office in Mangaluru, Premananda Shetty stated, "The increase in diesel and petrol prices has caused inflation across all sectors. Under the leadership of Vijayendra, the BJP is organizing a protest demanding that the state government roll back the price hike. This protest will not be limited to BJP leaders. Tomorrow, we are holding a protest, and as our state leaders say, this government came into power by making unscientific promises. The chief minister supports this price hike, claiming that it will benefit the economy."
He further added, "The price of diesel in Karnataka is much higher compared to other states, and this inflation is evident in the cost of milk, electricity, and other essential goods. People are now forced to pay ten times the usual price for products. Therefore, we will hold protests in all taluk offices across Karnataka."
When asked for details about the protest, Premananda Shetty explained, "We will organize a human chain protest to make the Congress party hear our voices. The protest is scheduled to begin at 10 am."
Kishor Kumar, Rajgopal Rai, Arun Seth, Manohar, and others were present during the press conference.
