Mangaluru, Jun 19: The newly elected Member of Parliament, Capt Brijesh Chowta, was felicitated on Wednesday, June 19, at MCC Building here.
Addressing the media, Sudhir Shetty Kannur said, "I congratulate the newly elected MP, Capt Brijesh Chowta, for winning the Lok Sabha elections, and I also congratulate Ivan D'Souza for being elected twice as MLC. Capt Brijesh Chowta was an active member of NCC during his college years. Later, he completed his officers' training in Chennai and joined the 8th Gurkha Rifle regiment. He was promoted to Captain and later became the BJP District General Secretary, ensuring victory for BJP under his leadership. The people of Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada are happy, and they have elected Capt. Brijesh Chowta. Today, I'm happy that Brijesh Chowta has become Pradhan Sevak of Dakshina Kannada."
He further added, "We have lots of problems in the district. Previous MP Nalin Kumar Kateel brought a good amount of money and helped in developing the district. The Nanthoor flyover has completely stopped because of a law and order issue. In the future, we will make a flyover at KPT Junction. Chowta is fully committed to supporting the people of the district. The smart city projects are also getting completed, and all other works will be done under the leadership of Capt Brijesh Chowta."
On this occasion, Capt Brijesh Chowta expressed, "This is my first program where I'll be represented as an elected MP. Today, there are many senior leaders among us, and I agree that I need to learn more. With the blessings of BJP National and State leaders, I have been selected as an MP. I have dreamt of developing the district with the same sentiment of Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharath.' I extend heartfelt thanks to all those who have gathered here to felicitate me."
"The youth will get employment opportunities in the district, and we will exceed all limits in our work. All central government projects have been reviewed. Although I'm not a political person, with the blessings of the Daivas of Tulunadu, I'm here today. I assure you that I'll do my best with honesty and sustained efforts. George Fernandes and Atal Bihari Vajpayee were my inspirations, and I want to see the upgrading of the Kargil war memorial at Kadri since this time it will be the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas."
On this occasion, Capt Brijesh Chowta was felicitated, and all the members of MCC congratulated him and expressed what work needs to be done by the newly elected MP.
Sudhir Shetty Kannur, mayor of Mangaluru City; Premanand Shetty, former mayor; Praveen Alva, opposition party leader at MCC; Sunitha, Anand CL, and others were present.
