Mangaluru: Regional conference held at New Mangala College of Nursing

Mangaluru, Jun 20: A regional conference on "DIMINISH AND DWINDLE: Unravelling the Puzzle of PCOS" was organized by the department of OBG, MSc(N) and 4th year BSc(N) students at New Mangala College of Nursing on June 19.

Dr Durga Prasad MR, medical superintendent, Lady Goshen Government Hospital, Mangaluru inaugurated the event.

Dr Anitha G Bhat, vice - chairman, Mangala Group of Educational Institutions presided over the inaugural function.

Prof Subramanya Nayak, principal, New Mangala College of Nursing highlighted the importance of hosting the conference.

Dr Mari Elizabeth Pinto, PG coordinator and conference chairperson welcomed the gathering.

Neha Maria Bennis, student organiser, 1st MSc (N) OBG, read the brief report of the conference.

Manila Laveena D’Souza, assistant professor, OBG department, conference secretary proposed a vote of thanks.

Dhanya Shri, 1st MSc(N), OBG was the master of ceremony.

Dr Bharath K H, principal, Mangala College of physiotherapy, Geetha Laxmi, vice principal, Mangala College of allied health sciences were graced the occasion.

Various sessions were arranged with expert resource persons in the field.

The first session taken by Dr Shannon Fernandes, associate professor & consultant, department of OBG, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru. She introduced the topic with 'Definition, ethology, clinical features and pathophysiology of PCOS'.

The second session by Dr Joylene Dalmeida, associate professor & consultant, department of OBG, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru on the topic 'Diagnosis & Medical Management in PCOS'.

The third session on 'Dietary Management in PCOS' was taken by Madhura Paroolkar, head nutritionist, Cult-fit, Bengaluru.

The last session was delivered by Nikita Singh, counselling psychologist, health coach, lawyer, Lucknow, India. She spoke on 'Stress Management in PCOS'. 

There were altogether 400 participants (students/faculty) from various institutions in and around Mangaluru.

The programme came to an end with the distribution of certificates to the resource persons and delegates in the valedictory session.
