India women's Hockey Captain to be Honoured


Raipur, Oct 26 (IANS): Indian women's hockey team captain Saba Anjum will get Chhattisgarh's top Gundadhur sports award, official sources said Wednesday.

"The award will be conferred on Saba Anjum as she is a real gem in hockey," an official told IANS.

The annual award is given to a person who brings honour to the state in sports at national and international levels. It carries a cash prize of Rs.100,000 and a citation.

Anjum, 24, will receive the award Nov 1 here at a function to mark the foundation anniversary of Chhattisgarh, carved out from Madhya Pradesh in 2000. Anjum belongs to Durg district of Chhattisgarh.
