Bengaluru, Jun 25: The 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan will be held in Mandya from December 20 to 22.
A preliminary meeting on the preparatory arrangements for the Kannada Literary Conference was held at Chief Minister’s Home Office Krishna in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Mandya district administration representatives, district in chare minister and other legislators attended the meeting.
The conference was earlier planned to be held in the month of June and had to be postponed due to the enforcement of the model code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections.
The conference is proposed to be held in December as a large of delegates from the State, other States and even from abroad are expected to participate, the Chief Minister said briefing reporters after the meeting and said the conference will be held in a grand manner.
The 48th Kannada literary conference was held in Mandya under the presidentship of Jayadevi Tayi Ligade and subsequently in 1994 when Dr Chaduranga chaired the proceedings for the 63rd conference. This year’s December conference will be third to be held in Mandya.
Agricultural Minister and district in charge N Cheluvarayaswamy, Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr Mahesh Joshi, Kannada and Culture Department Secretary Ajay Nagabhushan and Chief Minister’s Political Secretaries K Govindaraju and Naseer Ahmed and other MLAs attended the meeting.
