Ankara, Oct 27 (IANS): The toll from a powerful quake in eastern Turkey rose to 481 Wednesday, officials said.
Over 1,600 people were injured in last Sunday's 7.2 magnitude quake in Van province, the Disaster and Emergency Administration (AFAD) said.
More than 18,000 tents, 95 mobile toilets, 60 prefabricated huts, over 84,000 blankets, 1,130 quilts and 36 mobile kitchens have been dispatched to the quake zone, AFAD said.
A 25-year-old school teacher was Wednesday pulled out from the debris of a building, three days after the devastating tremor, Xinhua reported quoting the local NTV channel.
About 80 multi-story buildings collapsed in Ercis town, which is close to the Iranian border. The rescue operation was continuing Wednesday.
