Udupi, Jun 29: The members of Perdoor gram panchayat condemned the behaviour of Sumana K, the panchayat development officer (PDO), and threatened to protest against her during a press meet on Saturday.

Addressing the media, tukaram nayak, a member of perdoor gram panchayat, stated, “we have an excellent MLA in the region, but not a suitable PDO. The current PDO of Perdoor gram panchayat has worked in various places, but she has consistently displayed negligence and arrogance. In one location, her inappropriate behaviour led to the resignation of a health department member. Here, she rarely visits to check on developments and shows little interest in the village's progress. Many electricity certificates and licenses are pending. She has also falsely accused the president and members of Perdoor gram panchayat and spoke disrespectfully to the MLA during yesterday’s Janaspandana programme.”

Chethana Shetty, President of Perdoor gram panchayat, expressed concerns, stating, “People are worried about the PDO and have lost hope. She neither performs her duties nor allows us to carry out ours. She seems to be under the influence of some powerful individuals. We are concerned about our people and their development.”

Jayananda Hegde, former president of Bairampalli gram panchayat, added, “We have already approached higher authorities, but there has been no positive response. Approaching the deputy commissioner and even the MLA has yielded no results. If this situation persists, we will protest against the PDO.”

Deva Poojari, Vice-President of Perdoor gram panchayat, Harshith, a member of Dairampalli gram panchayat, and other members of Perdoor gram -anchayat were also present.
