Kadaba, Jul 1: A house near Kemmara School in Koila village was completely gutted by a fire caused by an electrical short circuit on Sunday.

The fire broke out in the bedroom of the house owned by Kemmara Abdul Rahiman and quickly spread throughout the entire house. Almost all the furniture and household appliances were reduced to ashes, and the walls cracked on both sides of the house.

The tiles in the kitchen and the granite in the bedroom exploded due to the intense heat. The estimated loss is Rs 35 lakh. Abdul Rahman, the owner, had gone to visit relatives with his wife and children, leaving only his elderly mother, Sakeena, at home. She noticed the smoke and alerted the neighbours. The house was built just a year ago.

Local residents acted quickly to turn off the main power switch, preventing further damage. Fire service personnel later arrived and extinguished the blaze. Gram panchayat officials and a revenue inspector visited the site to assess the situation.
