Raipur, Oct 28 (IANS): The outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) has opposed Chhattisgarh's foundation anniversary Nov 1 and asked the people in its strongholds to stay away from the function, officials said Friday.
Several pamphlets were found Friday on Narayanpur-Sonpur road in Narayanpur district which falls in the violence-hit Bastar region.
"The guerrillas have opposed to Chhattisgarh's foundation anniversary and asked its cadres and people to stay away from the functions," a senior officer at the police headquarters told IANS.
The official said the state anniversary functions to be held in Maoist-stronghold districts of Dantewada, Bijapur, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kanker and Rajnandgaon will get extra security cover.
Chhattisgarh came into existence Nov 1, 2000, being carved out of Madhya Pradesh.
