Doctors in Govt hospitals should be socially oriented, says CM

Bengaluru, Jul 1: Doctors in government hospitals should be socially oriented in their work and be always conscientious of their professional duties, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in Bengaluru on Monday, July 1.

Inaugurating the National Doctors Day celebrations organised by the Health and Family Welfare Department in Vidhana Soudha, he said doctors are treated as gods if they save lives. Doctors should be careful as any laxity or negligence on their part would be dangerous.

The chief minister said the medical profession should vigilant and discharge their duties diligently and prevent the spread of diseases. The Health Department must be vigilant in curbing diseases, he said.

Siddaramaiah cautioned against bad and evil habits like drinking, smoking etc., and confessed that he himself was a chain smoker. After realising the harmful effects of smoking, he had given up smoking.

The chief minister felicitated doctors who had won awards.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, chief minister’s political secretary Naseer Ahmed, Guarantee Implementation Committee chairman H M Revanna, MLA Dr M T Shrinivas, Health and Family Welfare Department principal secretary Harsha Gupta, Doctors Association president Dr Vivek Dore and others participated in the function.
