Mangaluru: DK NSUI protests NEET paper leak, criticises BJP govt; clash ensues with cops

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (VP)

Mangaluru, Jul 2: The Dakshina Kannada National Students Union of India (NSUI) led by prominant Congress leaders of the district staged a protest at Clock Tower, Mangaluru, on Tuesday, July 2, criticising the Central BJP Government over the NEET question paper leak.

The protest also led to a scuffle with the police.

During the protest, tensions escalated, leading to a physical confrontation between the protestors and the police. Several protestors were seen being pushed and shoved by the police as they tried to maintain order.

Addressing the gathering, Padmaraj R Poojary, Congress MP candidate, stated, "NSUI has organised this protest to highlight the scam perpetrated by the BJP. It's evident from one center where 7 students scored full marks that exams are rigged to disadvantage the poor. The BJP has failed to address this issue, even attempting to silence Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. This injustice towards students must end; Rahul Gandhi and the Congress stand firmly with students."

Harish Kumar, District Congress president, added, "This incident is unfortunate, caused by the central government. Despite Rahul Gandhi's efforts to raise concerns about NEET exams, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remained silent. The magnitude of this scam affects millions of students. Rahul Gandhi's speech in Parliament compelled Modi to listen, despite BJP's attempts to undermine him as 'Pappu'. Through initiatives like Yuva Nidhi Scheme, Rahul Gandhi continues to support countless students."

M G Hegde, also speaking at the protest, criticised the BJP, saying, "After exploiting the country, the BJP now targets students. Modi's promises of making India a superpower have only led to inflation. BJP's Hindutva has poisoned the youth, but voters in the recent elections have taught them a lesson. It was clear Modi was about to lose. The leaking roof of Rama Mandir symbolises the curse of Lord Rama due to BJP's fake Hindutva. Anyone not voting for them is labelled anti-Hindu."

The protest saw the presence of Ramanath Rai, Ibrahim Kodijal, Shalet Pinto, Suhan Alva, Vishwas, and others.

My humble request to all to go look at NTA data. 6 percent of those who figure in NEET top 100 are from peaceful community. Hazaribagh naach is from this community. Latur is just celebration of this community and some NUSI is making sound of mosquito in Mangalore in aid of what? Are they taking inspiration from the knowledge (or lack of it) of RaGa about Hinduism or Islam, which he eloquently outlined in the parliament yesterday? NEET was a scam, is a scam and all stakeholders including the medical council, the medical colleges who get crores of rupees in fees from paid and NRI seats want it to be that way only. Do not expect any different outcome, because money matters, and it rules. If JEE can be computer based, why are all stakeholders (Medical council, Health Ministry, NMC and NTA) protesting about bringing NEET into the computer-based testing ambit? CBI was involved every year. If they resisted in 2017 and every year since, they would ensure that NEET 2025 will also be paper based.
