Udupi: 17-year-old boy dies by suicide after failing exams

Udupi, Jul 4: A 17-year-old boy died by suicide at his grandmother's home in Manipal after he failed in his exams on July 3.

The deceased is identified as Ajith. 

Ajith, a student of government junior college high school in Mudarangady, had failed in Mathematics and English in his 10th-grade exams. He reappeared for the exams in April but failed again. Due to his inability to attend school, Ajith had been staying at his grandmother's house in Manipal for the past four months.

On July 3, at around 10:30 am, Ajith informed his grandmother that he was going to the bathroom. When mother, came to visit Padma's house around 12:30 PM, she discovered that Ajith was missing. After a search, Ajith was found in the bathroom, where he had hanged himself using a nylon rope.

A case has been registered at Manipal police station.
