Kundapur, Jul 4: Every year, during the monsoon season, more than 100 families in Kundapur taluk face severe challenges. For four to five days, they are unable to step out of their homes, and even for basic necessities like salt, groceries, and vegetables, they have to use boats.

Political representatives, who solicit votes during the monsoon floods, and government officials, often visit these areas only during the floods and then do not return.

Flooding is a recurring issue for the villages of Navunda, Badakere, Maravanthe, Salbuda, Arehole, Konki, Kudru, Chikkalli, and Padukone. It is no exaggeration to say that the monsoon is a curse for the residents of these areas. They must keep three to four boats in reserve for use during the rainy season. Even sick people must take a boat ride to reach the market, which is three kilometres away. Navigating this stretch by boat is quite adventurous, and many residents, including young people who know how to operate boats, help the community.

Byndoor fire service personnel are actively conducting operations in flood-affected areas from early morning. Byndoor taluk administration officer Pradeep, Bharati Byndoor, fire service personnel, Byndoor police station personnel, staff of Navunda gram panchayat, and officials of gram panchayat Nada have arrived at the scene and are instructing the public to take precautionary measures.

Politicians come, visit and go. Each year same drama. They know, DK people are very smart. They will demand and seek answers from ruling govt, not the representative who they locally elected. At times 3 times MLAs too only have questions. Saga continues.

Its truly a disaster during rainy season. The one who went thru alone know the difficulties which people face during this 2-3 months of monsoon time. Regret to say, for people of Nada Chikkalli, especially, (3 houses), they don't even have a proper pathway to walk, nor to take a ride home, due to some of the villagers objection, they have stopped the pathway. One must visit that place and see the helplessness of these people. Imagine, if a person falls ill, almost for a kilometer they have to carry that sick person and reach to a certain point to have a ride. NO ONE SHOULD FACE THIS at this point of time. where in world is stepping into AI, and few people who are in Nada Chikkalli, still battling for basic needs..... (a simple way to reach home)
