Heavy rains in Dakshina Kannada: Trekking, adventure sports restricted

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jul 6: Due to incessant heavy rains in the Dakshina Kannada district, a red alert has been issued, leading to the imposition of several restrictions on outdoor activities. Deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan has announced a temporary ban on trekking and adventure sports organized by resorts, the forest department, and private homes. Additionally, access to waterfalls has been restricted as a preventive measure against potential landslides and flooding.

The DC said that stepping into waters, rivers, or other bodies for swimming or recreation is strictly prohibited during this period. These measures have been taken to ensure public safety amidst the heavy rainfall and related risks.

The DC warned that any violation of these restrictions will result in strict action.

The public is urged to comply with these guidelines and avoid venturing into hazardous areas until further notice.
