Heavy rainfall: Holiday declared for schools, PU colleges in Mangaluru taluk on July 8

Mangaluru, Jul 7: Due to widespread heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada district, as forecasted by the Indian Meteorological Department and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, the Mangaluru Taluk Disaster Management Authority has declared a holiday for all Anganwadis, government, aided, and private primary & high schools, and pre-university colleges (up to 12th grade) in Mangaluru taluk on Monday, July 8.

In addition to declaring a holiday, the following emergency measures have been implemented:

  • Potential flood and landslide-prone areas have been identified, and necessary precautionary measures have been taken.
  • The public and tourists are advised to avoid low-lying areas with water, lakes, riverbanks, and seashores.
  • Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea for fishing.
  • Due to the heavy rainfall in the taluk, the public is warned to stay away from rivers, streams, and electric poles/wires.
  • To prevent potential damage, the public is urged to avoid dangerous situations and adhere to the advice and instructions of the taluk administration.

In case of any incidents or warnings related to natural disasters, the public should immediately inform the respective Panchayat or urban local bodies.
