Mangaluru: Case filed against MLA Dr Bharath Shetty at Kavoor police station over ‘slap remark’

Mangaluru, Jul 10: Police commissioner Anupam Agrawal said on Wednesday that a case has been filed against Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty for his remarks against the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

Corporator Anil Kumar had filed a complaint at Kavoor police station following which an FIR was lodged against the MLA. 

On Monday, July 8, BJP MLA Bharath Shetty sparked controversy by stating that Rahul Gandhi should be locked up and slapped inside Parliament for his alleged anti-Hindu remarks.

“LoP Rahul Gandhi should be locked up and slapped inside Parliament. This act will lead to the filing of seven to eight FIRs. If LoP Rahul Gandhi comes to Mangaluru city, we will arrange the same for him,” MLA Shetty declared during a protest held at Kavoor.

In response to Shetty's statement, Congress members protested vehemently, condemning the MLA's remarks.

    Bharath Shetty is clearly a very clearly a person that advocates violence. He has openly called for using violence against a leader of the opposition and he is clearly taking the law into his hands and the police should take notice of this and have him locked up. Besides, we have seen him time and again caught on video how he misbehaves with Teachers, Nuns and School authorities of Jerosa. I think such violent persons should have their medical license revoked and as he is a danger to civilized society he should be locked up.

    Rahul Gandhi is a super man. He never said anything wrong about any religion but yes he said bad about fekus who fakes about religion and make fun of peaceful religion. Hindu religion is one of the best religion in the world because it is peaceful but people like in this article guy use filthy language to spoil peaceful religion.

    This MLA doesn't have ethics. Basically uncivilized. Even when he was the principal in AJ college, his language towards elderly people, women etc was hopeless. He is not fit be a leader. He has won just because Modi card. He didn't do anything to his constituency. But made enough and more for his generations.

    Bharat Shetty’s response was not in line with Rahul Gandhi’s statement in the parliament. Shetty has fabricated his own story by twisting, adding and subtracting the contents of Rahul Gandhi to attack Rahul Gandhi in an undemocratic way. Bharat Shetty’s remarks clearly shows his rude culture and his uncivilized background. He is unfit to be a public servant nor as a dentist and has displayed this inability by ignoring his civil duties as a MLA to meet people’s challenges and zero developmental work.
