Renowned anchor, actress Aparna passes away due to cancer

Bengaluru, Jul 11: Popular Kannada television host and announcer Aparna Vastarey (57) passed away on Thursday, July 11, reportedly due to cancer.

Aparna was not only known for her hosting skills but also made a mark in acting, earning fame through her roles in movies and serials.

Aparna had been battling cancer for quite some time. Apart from being a host, she was also recognized as an actress, having gained fame through her performances in movies and serials. Aparna hosted numerous television shows and provided her voice for various announcements, including those for "Namma Metro."

Aparna hosted several programmes on Doordarshan Chandana channel and later worked as a radio jockey for the Indian government's ‘Vividh Bharati.’ In 1998, she set a record by hosting a Deepavali programme continuously for eight hours.

In television, Aparna acted in popular serials such as 'Moodalamane' and 'Mukta.' She also participated in the first season of Bigg Boss Kannada in 2013. In 2015, she played the character Varalakshmi in the show 'Maja Talkies,' which was hosted by Srujan Lokesh.
