Udupi: Paddy planting, 'Kesaru Gadde Ota’ held at PM Shri School Santhekatte

Udupi, Jul 12: Paddy Planting and Sediment Field Sports Competition (Kesaru Gadde Ota) of students in collaboration with School "Spandana Eco Club" and "Netaji Bharat Seva Dal", was held at PM Shri School, Santhekatte.

Students of grade 5, 6 and 7 from PM Shri School and grade 5 students of Balle Bailu, Kurpadi and Siddhanayaknamane schools participated in the event. As many as 120 students took part in the event.

The event began with the formal inaugural programme at the central state of the agricultural farm. State-level best farmers awardees were present on the dais.

The students planted a row of paddy plants, followed by 50-metre race, tug-of-war, betel leaf relay race, bullock cart race and treasure hunt.

Organisers and participants have expressed their joy and happiness and states that along with academic education, events like these agriculture will also be taught. Children will be aware of farming.

The event ended with a formal programme of distributing trophies and prizes to all the winners.

Traditional breakfast and Kashaya in the morning and Ganji (porridge), chutney in the afternoon were served.

Donor Sathish Pai Hebri, owner of Lakshmi Cashew Industry, made vehicle arrangements for students. Udaya Nayak, alumni sponsored the prizes for the winners of the field sport events.

Usha Udaya Nayak presided over the closing ceremony.

Yashpal Suvarana, MLA, Dinesh Shetty, Chara grama panchayat member, Naveen Poojary, president, Kenjoor grama panchayat, Padmavathi, officer psychical education, Pushpavathi, district organiser Netaji Bharat Seva Dal, Aroor Thimappa Shetty, State representative, school head teachers, president of teachers local farmers union and others participated in the event.
