Mangaluru, Jul 14: City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has instructed all banks to promptly provide transaction data to the police department in cases of online money fraud to expedite investigations and apprehend perpetrators swiftly.
Agarwal convened a meeting with bank officials under the commissionerate's jurisdiction, stressing the urgent need for transaction details during online fraud cases, which are sometimes delayed. He urged bank officials to prioritise this issue, emphasizing the crucial role of timely information in blocking fraudsters' accounts.
"In instances of online fraud, it is imperative for police to swiftly block the fraudsters' accounts. The window of opportunity is narrow, making the cooperation of banks during this 'Golden Hour' pivotal," Agarwal stated.
Bank officials discussed the format for providing necessary details and agreed to nominate nodal officers from both banks and the police department to facilitate quick information exchange. All Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) will serve as nodal officers to ensure seamless coordination.
Furthermore, bank officials were instructed to report any suspicious transactions promptly to the police department for immediate action.
