Udupi, Jul 15: A doctor serving in a hospital in Udupi's Brahmavara has sparked controversy due to an allegedly offensive tweet made from Dr Keerthan Upadhya’s X account.
On July 13, in response to the question, "If you could remove one thing from this world, what would it be?" Dr Keerthan Upadhya’s reply, "Muslim community," caused a major uproar.
Dr Keerthan Upadhya is reportedly working in a private hospital in Brahmavar. The incident has gone viral on social media, prompting significant backlash against Dr Kirtan Upadhyay. Many users have tagged the Karnataka DGP on X and demanded action against the doctor for the inflammatory tweet.
Later, Dr Keerthan Upadhya claimed his account was hacked, tweeting, "I had stopped using Twitter a few months back and realized something unwanted was posted. Someone was using my account. I have changed my password, login details, and everything related to the account. My account was hacked. Apologies to all here."
Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of the fact-checking organization Alt News, pointed out that Dr Upadhya had deleted the controversial tweet and locked his X profile, preventing access to his account and tweets.
A suo moto case has been filed by Udupi police over the incident against Dr Keerthan Upadhya at Udupi town police station.
