Udupi, Jul 17: An accident took place on the Udupi-Mangaluru national highway 66 near Katapadi Junction, on July 16, involving severe injuries to a police constable.
Harish Narayana Poojary was heading from Udyavar to Padubidri in his car when he stopped following police instructions. At that moment, Sushant, driving a Swift car recklessly and negligently, collided into Poojary’s car.
The collision caused damage to another car as well. As a result of the impact, Poojary’s car hit police constable Ram, who was standing in front of the vehicle. The police constable fell onto the road and sustained severe head injuries. The injured were immediately taken to Udupi Hitech Hospital.
Sushant, Vishnu, Ashika, and Harshi, who were in the Swift car, sustained minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital. The passengers in Poojary's car were unharmed.
The accident resulted in damage to three vehicles. According to the police report, the accident was caused by Sushant's reckless and negligent driving of the Swift car.
