Mumbai, Nov 2 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Wednesday was ruling weak in the morning session amid negative cues from Asian bourses. Metals and banking stocks were under selling pressure.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 17,347.7 points, was within minutes ruling at 17,409.89 points, down 70.94 points or 0.41 percent from its previous close at 17,480.83 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading subdued, 15 points or 0.29 percent down at 5,232.95 points.
Broader markets were trading lacklustre as well with the BSE 500 index down 0.34 percent. The BSE midcap index and smallcap indices were flat at this time.
