Mangaluru: Yenepoya Medical College conducts health awareness activities & competitions

Mangaluru, Jul 19: Yenepoya Medical College conducted several school competitions and awareness programme as a part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations in neighbouring schools across various age group. Dr Sahana K S, professor & HoD, department of paediatrics was the convener and Abdul Razak, camp coordinator, department of social work was the coordinator of the school activity programme.

Competitions included poster making on environmental & health, conducted by Dr Sahanna K S, quiz competitions on common diseases by Dr Divyalakshmi, & Dr Atul Kamath, painting & speech competition on my doctor / my hospital by Dr Sowrabha, role play on dog bite / snake bite / road traffic accident by Dr Spandana & Dr Nayana, spell bee competition for medical terminology & memory game of medical equipment’s by Dr Sunil Baliga, and an awareness programme was conducted Dr Diksha Shirodkar & Dr Payal Kubsad on the concerns regarding ‘Rising Childhood Obesity’.

The activities were meant to bring about orientation of children towards existing health problem, current health system, immediate remedial steps in common health related scenario and interaction between the environment and health so that children become more cautious about their own health and the health of their family. Following Schools participated in the programme.

15. Govt High School Babbukatte

All the competitions and awareness programmes saw active participation of the students filled with enthusiasts, which in turn was further encouraged the organizers. The teachers of all the schools rendered their full cooperation for the activities. The entire set of events aimed at bringing about some positive changes in the approach towards health and well being of children.
