Mangaluru: St Marys PU College celebrates the feast of Mount Carmel

Mangaluru, Jul 19: The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was celebrated at St Mary’s PU College on July 18, in the college auditorium with great fervour and devotion. This day also marks the foundation day of The Apostolic Carmel Congregation founded by Venerable Mother Veronica.

The programme began by invoking God’s blessing with a prayer song and service. A cultural programme was organised by the students where they showcased their talents through skit and enthralling dance performances.

Aysha Nida from I commerce welcomed the gathering and Ameena Faizal spoke on the significance of the day. Students highlighted on the virtues of Mother Mary such as humility, obedient, faith, mortification, purity, charity, and patience along with a dramatic display of the history of Mount Carmel.

Sr Marie Lucy, the college administrator addressed the gathering. In her speech, she emphasised the importance of scapular and to imbibe the virtues and live according to it. The programme was compered by Fiza Firdausl from I commerce and vote of thanks was proposed by Naima Zuleka (I com).The programme concluded with the National Anthem.

Overall, the Carmel feast was a joyous celebration that combines religious devotion, cultural expression and community building.
