Mangaluru: Kodikal theft case – Three arrested, Rs 4.64 lac worth of gold ornaments recovered

Mangaluru, Jul 20: Urwa police have cracked a theft case that occurred in Kodikal on July 6, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of gold ornaments worth Rs 4.64 lac.

The arrested suspects, Venkatesh alias Venki (21), Sagar (21), and Ranjeet (20), all natives of Bengaluru, were apprehended in Gangoudanahalli, Nelamangala taluk, Bengaluru. The scooter used in the crime was also confiscated, and the suspects have been remanded to judicial custody.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had committed multiple burglaries in various parts of the state, including Mangaluru and Bengaluru. They confessed to a theft in Kadri as well. Venki has 18 theft cases, while Sagar has six theft cases registered against them.

The theft at Kodikal came to light when the house's occupants returned home from work at 5:45 pm on July 6. The thieves had broken into the cupboard locker and stolen eight gold rings, chains, silver ornaments, and Rs 6,000 in cash.

Venki, Sagar, and Ranjeet carried out the theft in broad daylight on July 6 at a house in Vivekananda Nagar, Kodikal. On the early morning of July 7, another gang, known as the ‘Chaddi Gang’, stole valuables from a different house in the same area.

The operation was led by Urwa station police inspector Bharati, with the assistance of PSIs Harish H V and Anita, ASI Vinay Kumar, and HCs Pushparaj, Ramachandra, Satish, Pramod, and Manoj.
