Pak Captaincy a 'Sacrificial Lamb' Position: Afridi

Lahore, Nov 3 (PTI): Flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi has described Pakistan captaincy as a ''sacrificial lamb'' position.

"Everyone sees the captain as a sacrificial lamb every time," Afridi told reporters after his meeting with the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf.

He, however, added that "he had no issues playing either as captain or a player in the team" again.

Making it clear that he had enjoyed leading Pakistan, Afridi said that if the board entrusted him with the responsibility again he was ready for it but would not run after it.

"Whoever leads the side has a tough job and I will support any captain in the team," said Afridi.

Meanwhile, Afridi admitted that the guilty verdict passed against Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif in the the spot-fixing case had badly tarnished the image of Pakistan cricket but said that he felt sorry and sad for the parents, wife and children of those cricketers.

"I really feel bad for the families, especially their parents and wives because this is a stigma for life and does not go away.

"They brought a very bad name to Pakistan cricket and that is very sad," the former skipper said.

Afridi, you say it is a guilty verdict, what u giving a pat on Salman's butt. Shabbas beta butt. And again u say they bought bad name to Pakistan. What about you? When you were tampering the ball biting openly in front of spectators. In desparation? Accept the verdict and try to mend. Play cricket and not crooket.
