Davanagere: International visitors from Spain at St Aloysius Institutions, Harihar

Davanagere, Jul 24: The faculty of La Purisima College, Spain graced St Aloysius International School and PU College, Harihar, with their presence.

St Aloysius International School and PU College had the honour of hosting international visitors from Spain on July 22 by a warm welcome. The College band performed a lively rendition of a popular tune, while the NCC cadets presented a crisp salute, guided by Manjunath TS and Nagesh. The visitors were also greeted with an Indian traditional poornakumbha swagatha that showcased our cultural heritage setting a ceremonial tone, under the guidance of Shameem Banu.

Interreligious prayer guided by Jose Antony, was conducted by Sampreeth and team, which emphasizes unity and harmony among different religions. A beautifully choreographed dance guided by Sindhu, to welcome the guests, was presented by Kavya and team. Then the esteemed international visitors and the distinguished dignitaries collectively ignited the lamp, casting a warm glow that symbolised the illumination of knowledge, wisdom, and unity. The lighting of the lamp was a beautiful arrangement thanks to Nadeemulla.

The guests were impressed by the hospitality and enthusiasm of our students and all the members of staff. Sr Angel FSI and Sr Jyothi FSI warmly welcomed the guests and participants, highlighting the significance of the event. Sr Katherine FSI introduced the international visitors and provided insights into the purpose of the collaboration and its future benefits.

The chief guest, Sr Aniuska Aponte Vargas FSI – superior general and president of La Purisima College, Spain, delivered a thought-provoking speech on the importance of global partnership and collaboration between the two educational institutions. She emphasized the need for schools to work together to address common challenges and share the best practices in education.

The guest of honour Sr Clara Tarazona Signes FSI, principal of La Purisima College, while addressing the gathering, mentioned about the educational system in Spain. She also taught children how to greet in Spanish and the children repeated the same with enthusiasm. Sr Louisa Gorantla FSI – administrator of Indian province and counsellor to the provincial were also present. The visitors were then felicitated and honoured with mementos as token of appreciation. In his presidential speech Fr Eric Mathias, SJ superior of our institution highlighted the significance of the collaboration with Spanish schools. He encouraged students to dream big and make use of such collaboration for their individual enhancement and the development of the Institution. He also opened the opportunity for student exchange programme at La Purisima School, Spain, especially in the field of music.

Talent Show

A variety of cultural performances representing Indian culture were presented by our students, meticulously planned by Abdul Rahman and Sr Malsila:

  • Tabla and Harmonium show by Raghav and Ranjitha.
  • Painting art by Sanjana, Deekshitha, and Manu.
     
  • Story telling by Sharath.
  • Mono act by Gaman.
  • Bharatanatyam by Jhansi.
  • Yoga by Guruprasad.
  • Bharatanatyam by Prakruthi.
     
  • Group dance by 1st standard students.
  • Solo dance by Ayesha.
  • Group singing titled 'Give Peace a Chance'
  • Solo singing by Hanumantha.
     
  • Bollywood dance by Leora and Snehal.
  • Solo dance by Jhanvi

Vote of thanks was proposed by Leora expressing wholehearted gratitude to all the participants, guests, and organizers for their contribution.

Naveed and Dawood captured the moments through their photography. The welcome and vote of thanks by the students were guided by Reena Pinto. The stage and sound system were well set by Santhosh Kumar. Adding to this was Baptist Sunny Gudinho for the creative and beautiful invitation poster which set the tone for the programme in the first place. The programme concluded with the national anthem, followed by a group photo session with the school students.

The international collaboration programme was a grand success, marked by enthusiastic participation and appreciation from all attendees. The event fostered a spirit of global unity and showcased the rich cultural talents of the students.

The other dignitaries present on the dais were: Sr Sundari FSI, superior - Karunalaya convent, Harappanahalli, Sr Nakshatra FSI, and Sr Katherine FSI, warden of St Aloysius ladies’ hostel. Along with them the college and school officials namely: Fr Eric Matthias SJ, director St Aloysius Institutions - Harihar, Pushpalatha Urs - principal of PU College, Fr Vinod AJ SJ - principal St Aloysius International School, Grace Noronha - school advisor. Fr C John Baptist SJ - the maintenance officer and gents’ hostel director, the college vice-principals Mousin Ulla and Pascal Fernandes along with the other staff members of the school and college contributed immensely to the programme’s success.
