Udupi: 6 Kar Naval Unit NCC, 21 Kar Battalion NCC celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas

Udupi, Jul 27: The 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC and the 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC honoured the fallen heroes of the Kargil conflict with a solemn ceremony at Ajjarkad War Memorial on July 26.

The ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by Ganesh Rao, retired petty officer and president Ex-Servicemen Forum, followed by the unfurling of the defense flag by retired Lt Col FEJ Rodrigues. The ceremony continued with the singing of the national anthem in unison by the attendees.

The ceremony included wreath-laying, performed by Ganesh Rao, retired petty officer, retired Lt Col FEJ Rodrigues and Lt Cdr M A Multani, commanding officer of the 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, Udupi. The wreath-laying ceremony was organized collaboratively by the NCC units, the Ex-Servicemen Forum, Udupi and Udupi district Ex-Servicemen Society.

Following the formal proceedings, Post ceremony, cadets had the opportunity to interact with veterans and gain insight into the supreme sacrifice made by the heroes in protecting this country.

The event saw participation from 22 veterans of Udupi, 25 cadets of 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC, 35 cadets of 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC and 10 instructor staff of 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, Udupi and 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC.
