Udupi, Jul 27: Kannaru Kamalaksha Hebbar, president of the District Raita Morcha, announced, "The District Raita Morcha has achieved its first success with the support price for the past seven months credited to dairy farmers' bank accounts. A significant protest on June 26, led by MLA Yashpal Suvarna and the district BJP, highlighted this issue."
"The protest, held at the Udupi district center, garnered attention across Karnataka, sparking similar demonstrations throughout the state. Now, more than Rs 700 crore has been deposited into the bank accounts of dairy farmers statewide. The Udupi Raita Morcha extends its congratulations to all the public who participated in the protest. Among the key demands were increasing the support price of milk by Rs 5 and establishing an agricultural college in coastal districts. However, the government has shown interest in establishing a Diploma Agricultural College, which has faced concerns from parents regarding recognition and employment opportunities.
"Additionally, there is a need for permanent sanction letters under 94c, 94cc, and Akrama-Sakrama 57 and 53. The district should be declared flood-affected, with maximum compensation given to farmers who have lost their crops. The Varahi right bank project should also commence soon."
