Kaup, July 27: Severe coastal erosion in Nadipatna, under the Padubidri grama panchayat of the Kaup Assembly constituency, has put shoreline homes at risk. On Saturday, July 27, MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty along with Fisheries and Ports Minister Mankal Vaidya visited the area to assess the situation.

The erosion has already led to the loss of several coconut trees and damaged the access road to the Blue Flag Beach in Nadipatna. MLA Shetty urged the minister to approve immediate funding to address the issue.

In response, Minister Vaidya announced a grant of Rs 1 crore and instructed that work to mitigate the erosion commence immediately.

Also present were Padubidri GP president Shashikala, members Vidyashri, District BJP vice-president Prakash Shetty Padebettu, former zilla panchayat member Shashikant Padubidri, along with fishing community leaders and local residents.
