Mangaluru: Jaishankar Mitra, Mahila Mandalis organize Kesardonji & Aatidonji Dina

Mangaluru, Jul 29: Jaishankar Mitra Mandali Vamanjoor Tiruvail and Jaishankar Mahila Mandali jointly organized Kesardonji Dina and Aatidonji Dina on July 28 at the paddy fields of Tiruvail Devasa.

The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by local elderly people Lingappa Salian, Jayanti Devasa, Janaki Bondtila, Devaki Tiruvailu, and the president of Jaishankar Mahila Mandali.

Agriculturist Ashok Rai addressed the youth, emphasizing the importance of the Aati month. Devaki and Janaki sang Tulu Janapada Paddana, entertaining the gathering. Local corporator Hemalatha R Salian, Divakara Acharya Kudupu, Jaishankar Mitra Mandali president Balakrishna, Mandali office bearers, members, eminent village leaders, hundreds of children, and villagers attended the event. Manoj Vamanjoor compered the event.

Separate sports activities were organized for children and seniors at the paddy fields of Tiruvail Devasa as part of the Kesardonji Dina program. Children participated in tug-of-war, treasure hunts, and other skillful sports. Winners received prizes from eminent personalities. Both minors and seniors took part in the competitions. Entrepreneurs Raghu Salian and Mohandas Kukian provided live commentary of the Kesardonji Dina events. In the morning, jaggery water and soft drinks were served, followed by a special vegetarian lunch featuring traditional Aati month dishes.

The Aati lunch menu featured more than 20 types of dishes, including Soji, Timare, Chatni, Tetla-Padengi, Jeegujje-Padengi, Tojank Palya, Kudu chutney, Pelakayi Garige, Pelakayi Gatty, Kadle Balyar, Korida Pacche Kajipu, Pathrode, Maruvayi Sukka, Sheera, Nungel Chutney, Kukkuka Chutney, Iretha Gatty, Manni, and Kaje-Bile Akki Nuppu.
