Kumaraswamy expresses shock, grief at Wayanad landslide devastation

Bengaluru, Jul 30: Union Heavy Industry Minister H D Kumaraswamy has expressed his shock and grief at the devastating landslide near Wayanad in Kerala, which has claimed several lives.

Posting a message on X platform, Kumaraswamy has offered his prayers for eternal peace of those who lost their lives in this tragedy and for strength to the grieving families.

“With heavy rains affecting the entire country, including Kerala, there is a heightened risk of landslides and floods. Similar challenges are being faced in several districts of Karnataka. I urge everyone to remain vigilant and for the state government to have security personnel on standby 24/7 and deploy officers to monitor and manage high-risk areas,” he said.

The JDS leader said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promptly responded to the natural disaster by speaking to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and pledged full support for the rescue operations.
