Mangaluru: St Aloysius holds two days National Conference on Energy Harvesting Techniques

Mangaluru, Jul 30: The postgraduate department of physics and mathematics of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organized two days National Conference on the topic "Energy Harvesting Techniques: Tapping the power of Nature" in association with association of physics teachers of Mangalore University on July 23 to 24. The conference organized in line with the seventh goal of UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The Conference is sponsored by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), New Delhi and the event is supported by MRPL, Mangaluru.

The National Seminar was inaugurated by Prof Shaikh Faruque Ali, department of Applied mechanics, IIT Madras on July 23. In his keynote address he spoke on the possibilities of generating energy all accessories used in our daily life.

Dr Melwyn D'Cunha SJ, hon'ble pro-vice chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) Mangaluru presided over the function. He, in his presidential remarks, stressed the need of harvesting the renewable energy, preserving the natural resources, and saving the environment and the nature.

Dr Praveen C Ramamurthy, professor, department of materials engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru spoke about the new molecules discovered mimicking the nature.
Dr K S Narayan professor, chemistry, and physics of materials unit, JNCASR, Jakkur, Bengaluru spoke about the possibilities of new solar cell materials.

Dr Nagesh S Kini, co-founder & chief technology officer, Vimano EWA Pvt Ltd. Bengaluru spoke about flow batteries and how they can meet the future need of the energy requirements.
Dr Chandra Shekhara Shetty convener of the seminar welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest. Anupriya Shetty co-convener of the conference proposed vote of thanks.

On July 24, Dr Vasudha Hegde, professor, department of electrical & electronics engineering, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. Dr PM Aneesh, assistant professor, department of physics, Central University of Kerala and Dr Anindita Roy, associate professor, department of mechanical engineering, Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Maharashtra spoke on various topics of energy conservation and harvesting.
