Byndoor: MP B Y Raghavendra urges swift approval for 'Mookambika Airport'

Byndoor, Jul 31: MP B Y Raghavendra, along with Byndoor MLA Gururaj Shetty Gantihole, met with Union Civil Aviation Minister K J R Mohan Reddy to request the approval for establishing the 'Mookambika Airport' in the Byndoor Assembly constituency of the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency.

The Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur, Udupi district, which falls within the Byndoor Assembly constituency, is one of the prominent pilgrimage centres in South India. The temple attracts over 10,000 devotees daily from various states across India and even from abroad.

There is more than 500 acres of available land in Ottinene, which is in close proximity to the Byndoor Mookambika Road railway station and the bus stand. Constructing an airport at this location would provide significant convenience for the devotees. Therefore, the MPs have requested the approval for the 'Mookambika Airport'.

The Union Minister responded positively to the request and assured that necessary steps would be taken as soon as possible.

    this is great news for us ...... airport should be international and also domestic ........ this will boost both city D.K and UDUPI .........
