Udupi, Jul 31: A protest was held on Wednesday, July 31, in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office in Manipal, led by the Backward Classes Morcha of the BJP, condemning the alleged scandals involving the Muda and Valmiki Corporation under the state Congress government.
Hundreds of BJP workers participated in the protest, raising slogans against the Congress government. They demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resign immediately, holding him accountable for the alleged corruption.
Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna criticied the Siddaramaiah-led cabinet, accusing them of being the masterminds behind ongoing scandals. He claimed that the Congress, which came to power by promising welfare schemes, has now betrayed the people of the state, focusing on enriching their families rather than the state's development.
Suvarna also challenged Congress leaders, who have been making public appearances with visiting cards and petitions, to a public debate on whether any funds have been allocated to Udupi and the three coastal districts over the past 14 months. He urged them to demonstrate their strength by participating in such a debate rather than confining themselves to social media platforms.
Later, a delegation met with the Deputy Commissioner to submit their petition. The protest was attended by Vijaykumar Kodavoor, District president of the BJP's Backward Classes Morcha, and BJP leaders including Airodi Vithal Poojari, Rajesh Kumar Kaveri, Prithviraj Hegde Billadi, Kiran Kumar Byluru, Sandhya Ramesh, and Prakash Shetty Padubettu.
