Udupi: Adani Foundation provides school kits to 6800 students

Udupi, Aug 1: Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani Group, on Thursday July 1 distributed school kits worth Rs 60 lac to totally 6800 students, covering 76 government and government aided Kannada medium schools, located in and around Udupi Thermal Power Plant.

The education kits were distributed with a formal stage programme held at Buntara Bhavan in Padubidri, with a lighting of lamp by Dr Deviprasad Shetty, president of Belapu gram panchayat, Shakuntala, president of Padubidri gram panchayat, Shivakumar Mendon, president of Bada gram panchayat, Mamata Diwakar Poonja, president of Balkunje gram panchayat, Janardhan Acharya, president of Kutyaru gram panchayat, Namita, president of Mudarangadi gram panchayat, Surekha, president of Tenka gram panchayat, Usha, vice president of Yellur gram panchayat, Ritesh Shetty, officer from youth affairs & sports, Kaup taluk, Kishore Alva, president & executive director of Adani Group and head master and head mistress of government schools, who were present on the stage.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva informed that Udupi Thermal Power Plant has come to the management of Adani Group 9 years back and since then every year, under CSR initiative, Adani Foundation is providing quality education kits to the students studying in government & government aided schools, located in and around power plant. He informed that Adani Foundation is providing school kits worth Rs 60 lac covering 6800 students, studying in 76 government schools in the present academic year 2024-25. He also informed that the school kits are a kind of motivation to the students, encouraging them to pursue higher education.

Alva further told that eradication of illiteracy in the rural areas is one of the mottos of Adani Foundation and providing quality education kits every academic is paving way for students showing interest in continuing their academics. Informing that every year Adani Foundation is earmarking 20% of its total budget for educational initiative providing meritorious scholarships, support to the students from weaker sections of the society and providing infrastructure developments.

Dr Deviprasad Shetty, president of Belapu GP, spoke on the occasion and informed that Adani is extending various benefits in education, health, social forestation, rural sports and infrastructure development to the nearby villages under its CSR for the past one decade, gaining the confidence of villagers and local bodies. There are many industries that got set up in the coastal terrain and Adani Group’s CSR has become a model CSR. He further told that the educational initiatives of Adani CSR has been a boon to all the students of rural areas and in the coming years Adani Foundation should organize cultural programmes involving the students and this platform should be converted as a Education Conference, benefitting all the students and educational institutions.

Ritesh Shetty, officer from youth affairs and sports, expressed happiness on the CSR initiatives of Adani Foundation and applauded that every year the students of 80 Government Schools are getting benefits from Adani Group with the quality education and school kits.

Shashikala, Padubidri gram panchayat president, thanked Adani Group for its initiations in undertaking many social developmental works in the nearby villages.

The school kits comprised of all types of notebooks, geometry box, bag and umbrella.

Ravi R Jere, associate general manager of Adani Group, welcomed the guests, while Sudhakar Shenoy, head master of Palimaru government school delivered vote of thanks.

Adani Foundation team members Anudeep, Dheeraj and Shubhamangala, were present on the occasion.
