New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS): India picked up five West Indies wickets to pull back things in their favour and leave the visitors struggling at 109 for seven in their second innings at lunch on the third day of the first cricket Test at the Ferozeshah Kotla here Tuesday.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul was batting on 39 and skipper Darren Sammy at eight after the morning session's play during which the West Indies lost five wickets but stretched their overall lead to 204 runs.

The West Indies made 304 in their first innings and bowled out India for 209.

Resuming at overnight 21/2, the West Indies lost their first wicket in the third over of the day after night-watchman Fidel Edwards (1) flashed at an away delivery from pacer Ishant Sharma and edged it to wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

An error in judgment from Kirk Edwards (33) gave debutant pacer Umesh Yadav his maiden Test wicket. Edwards thought the ball was going out but Yadav angled it in, uprooting his off-stump.

The dismissal triggered a collapse as West Indies slumped from 53 for three to 84 for seven. Debutant off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin struck twice in his fifth over of the day to remove Darren Bravo (12) and Marlon Samuels for a duck.

Yadav picked up his second wicket when wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh (7) went in for an ambitious drive but ended up edging it to the Indian skipper.
