New Delhi, Nov 9: Tamil Nadu off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who first came into limelight during India's World Cup campaign, has been performing consistently in T20 and one-dayers, and now in his debut test. He has grabbed the opportunity given by the BCCI and proved that he has great talent, and may soon become a world class bowler.

His amazing 9-wicket haul in the just-concluded India vs West Indies first test earned him the man of the match reward. There is no doubt his bowling helped India win the test so comprehensively.

After the match, Ravichandran Ashwin said, "I expected to get wickets, but not so many. It is a nice wedding gift. The wicket slowed down and the only thing was the variation in bounce and we had to bowl well to get wickets. Ojha has been very miserly throughout his career and unfortunately he didn't get many wickets in the 2nd innings and I did. When the edges don't carry to the short leg fielder, it is not a good sign, but we have to live with what we get."

Ashwin is getting married on Sunday November 12 to childhood friend Preethi Narayanan. Ashwin and Preethi were engaged earlier this year.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that,  It is good to win. In test cricket, it doesn't go your way all the time, but it was nice to win. 95 was a big lead, frankly we didn't bat well, but we didn't panic. There was nothing in the wicket on the opening day and Ojha did well to get wickets. Today Sachin batted really well and along with VVS made it easy. It wasn't an easy wicket to bat on. You had to be careful of the one which kept low and have to play late on this wicket. Hopefully we will get a different wicket at Kolkata.

West Indian captain, Sammy: When you play against a top team, you need to create opportunities to win and we did that. But we didn't bat well in the 2nd innings and that cost us. The pitch played well in the last two days and I have to commend my bowlers for their effort. Yesterday we were bowling to the two most experienced men in the middle and we didn't have enough to defend. Our aim is to improve and we are doing that. The key is not to give wickets to the spinners and try to play them well. We hope to do that at Kolkata.
