Mangaluru, Aug 4: Court sentenced a man who sexually harassed a minor girl to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI).

Yogisha (26), a resident of Kaukradi in Beltangady taluk is the convict.

Yogisha had enticed the minor gir, taken her to a forest and sexually harassed her in 2020. Later, the girl ahd given birth to a baby girl. A case was filed in Beltangady police station. CI Shivakumar B had conducted inquiry and filed the chargesheet.

The inquiry took place in Fast Track Pocso court of the city. AS many as 13 witnesses deposed and 29 evidences were identified. Justice Manu K S upheld the accusation and sentenced Yogisha to 20 years of RI and slapped on him Rs 50,000 as fine. The judge also ordered him to pay the fine amount to the victim girl. In addition, the judge also ordered a compensation of Rs 1.5 lac to the victim girl and Rs 3 lac for her baby under Rape Victims' Relief Fund.
