Mangaluru, Aug 4: The fourth day of the Novena leading up to the feast of St Lawrence was marked by deep spiritual reflection and communal worship at St Lawrence Church at Bondel.

The theme for the day, "God satisfies the hunger and spiritual thirst of our body." At 5.30 pm, the devotees gathered for adoration, which was then followed by a solemn Mass.

The Mass was celebrated by Fr Anthony Serrao, the parish priest of Mulki, with Fr Andrew D'Souza, parish priest and Fr William D'Souza, assistant parish priest as co-celebrants.

In his homily, Fr Anthony Serrao emphasized the importance of nourishing both body and soul. “Our spiritual food is the Word of God, which acts as a guiding light and source of strength in our lives. By reading the word of God, reflecting on its teachings, and incorporating those lessons into our daily lives, we can nurture our spiritual well-being. The commandments, too, serve as a framework for living a life aligned with God's will, offering direction and wisdom in our everyday decisions,” he said.

Parents were reminded of their responsibility to instil these values in their children, teaching them the importance of prayer, faith, and the Word of God.

The beautiful choir was led by Joe, the choirmaster from Padre Pio Choir Group, Bejai. Their melodious voices elevated the Mass, creating an atmosphere of deep reverence and reflection. A special prayer was also offered for the sick, the suffering, and the elderly, invoking God's mercy and healing for those in need.
