Ramanagara, Aug 5: The BJP-JDS joint Mysuru Chalo padayatra over the MUDA scam is the mythological ‘Ashwamedhayaga’ to oust the Congress party from power, declared Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy at Ramanagara on Monday.

Participating in the Mysuru Chalo padayatra, the JDS leader said the final days of the Congress government are nearing. “We will not stop till Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resigns. We will cleanse the corruption of the Congress,” he said devoting his speech to assail D K Shivakumar.

Launching a frontal attack against the Siddaramaiah government, especially targeting his bête-noir Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, he referred to the latter’s comment on his garbage collection contract in Bengaluru and said: : “Yes, I was doing garbage disposal work in the city and had taken the contract for garbage disposal contracts in Jayanagara, Wilson Garden and Sudhamanagar wards. A senior person asked me to join politics by stating that you should remove garbage from other sectors and go to politics. That was how I entered politics.”

“I and BJP are out to clean the stink of Congress corruption as you have destroyed the fabric of administration all over the State,” he said.

Lambasting Shivakumar for speaking ill of himself and his father HD Deve Gowda, the JDS leader said his father has served in politics for over 40 years and became Chief Minister for one and half years and Prime Minister for 14 months. “When Devaraj Urs was the Chief Minister, he allotted him (father) a site in Sadashivanagar. When he refused to accept, he insisted on taking the site. He had to sell his Fiat car to raise the money. The site has been distributed to all the children,” he said pointing out that he had aligned with BJP twice.

Kumaraswamy said Shivakumar should be ashamed to claim that he belongs to the caste of Bengaluru’s founder Kempegowda. “He (Shivakumar) says that his father was measuring gold. I don’t know whether he was weighting gold or horsegram (hurulikalu). There are several persons from Kanakappura in Ramanagara. Why are they not weighing gold? There are several persons who run shops and trades. All of them know the real truth about the gold weighers,” he sarcastically remarked.

Referring to Shivakumar’s mentioning of his Bidadi farmhouse in Ketiganahalli village, he said when he was a film distributor and said a person named, Chaina Sab, had told him that ‘you’re Deve Gowdas’ son and you should cultivate. You should be a farmer’ and suggested the property. “I purchased the land with great difficulty,’” he said.

Kumaraswamy attacked Shivakumar for fooling people by renaming Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South district. “Will the land value appreciate merely by changing the name? I know the fraud played on the people under Brand Bengaluru,” he said.

The JDS leader lambasted the Congress leaders for bragging about the party’s winning 136 seats in the assembly polls and claimed that the tally will come down to 16. “Your days are numbered,” he thundered.
