Sullia: Resumption date for Bengaluru-Mangaluru train service not yet finalised

Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Aug 8: Repair work is ongoing on the railway track at the landslide site in Donigal between Edakumeri and Kadagaravalli on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru train route. The date for the resumption of passenger train service on this stretch has not yet been finalized.

Most of the track repair work is complete, with the second phase involving piling rock from the bottom of the track now underway.

Railway department officials stated that no final decision has been made to allow passenger trains to pass through the repaired track. A decision on the first phase might be taken on Thursday, but only after ensuring the safety of the repaired track.

Road traffic was also affected by landslides on the Shiradi Ghat between Donigal and Maranahalli. A significant landslide at Doddataplu had halted traffic for several days. Temporary repair work is now complete, and traffic is allowed to move on the ghat.

Despite the adverse weather the restoration of track between Kadagaravalli and Yedakumari Stations was successfully completed. Today passenger Train No. 16575 Gomateshwara Express was successfully passed, and train service will resume as per schedule. Kudos to our Railways for this phenomenal effort of restoring the tracks even amidst bad weather conditions & enabling connectivity between Mangaluru & Bengaluru at the earliest.👍

Our Govt's state as well as centre, must be serious about resolving peoples travel related issues. They speak about 12 hours duty hours, why not resolve this decade old issue? It's already very late, before entire travel system collapse, must resolve train travel issues in war footing speed. Political parties must take up peoples issues, why are they not talking!

Around 700 people worked day and night with generators light inspite of heavy rain and in most inaccessible place. Have some gratitude for them. We waited for 10 days and 2-3 more days waiting not an issue. Recently you know the Ankola incident and other incidents across the country. Safety of people is very important.
