Puttur: Police seize 9.36 grams of MDMA, arrest three in drug operation

Puttur, Aug 10: In a significant drug enforcement operation on Friday, August 9, Uppinangady police arrested three individuals and seized a substantial amount of MDMA narcotics at a vehicle checkpoint.

According to reports, Uppinangady police station SI Avinash H and his team were conducting checks at the Nekkiladi junction when they signalled an auto rickshaw with registration number KA 21 C 3003 to stop. The driver ignored the signal, sped away, and attempted to flee on foot after parking the vehicle. A second person also exited the auto and tried to escape.

Both individuals were apprehended by the police. When questioned, they gave inconsistent answers. A search of the vehicle revealed 9.36 grams of MDMA, valued at approximately Rs 18,720, along with 15 small plastic covers.

The auto and the narcotics were confiscated, and the following suspects were taken into custody: Mohammed Nasir (24) of Kedila village, Bantwal taluk; Mohammed Asif B (21) of Enaaje Budoli, Peraje village, Bantwal taluk; and Sinan.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the local police station.
