Mumbai, Nov 11 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Friday fell in morning trade and was ruling about 109 points lower, half an hour after opening bell.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened lower at 17,187.89 points, managed to nudge up but was still in the red at 17,252.76 points, down 109.34 points or 0.63 percent from its previous close at 17,362.1 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also edged lower to rule 24.75 points or 0.47 percent lower at 5,196.3 points.
Broader markets were also ruling lower with the BSE 500 index down 0.47 percent. The BSE midcap index was down 0.18 percent while the BSE smallcap index was trading flat.
