Kambala season begins in Bengaluru on Aug 26, Shivamogga to host final

Moodbidri, Aug 11: The Kambala season will kick off on August 26 in Bengaluru, with a total of 26 events scheduled under the leadership of the district Kambala committee. The season will conclude on April 19, 2025, with the final Kambala in Shivamogga.

District Kambala committee president Belapu Deviprasad Shetty shared details, stating, "Kambala is being conducted in a disciplined manner across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and has been well-received. To enhance its appeal, respective Kambala committees will need to adhere to specific rules, with sub-rules being formed to prevent delays and improve the event."

Shetty also announced that the Pilikula Kambala, which had been halted, will resume this year. The 'Tulunada Vaibhava' program will be introduced to integrate Kambala into tourism, accompanied by a Kambala-related exhibition. Additionally, a 'Kambala Bhavana' will be constructed.

"The government should allocate Rs five lakh for each Kambala event. A delegation has met the Chief Minister, and he has responded positively," Shetty added.

Kambala committee honorary president Ermal Rohit Hegde, vice president Naveenchandra Alva, Srikant Bhat, Sandeep Shetty, Prashant Kajava, Rashmith Shetty, chief secretary Lokesh Shetty Mucchuur, treasurer Chandrahasa Sanil, and referee Vijayakumar Kanginamane were also present.
