Mangaluru, Aug 12: Yenepoya Research Centre (YRC) organized a symposium titled "Aligning Grant Proposals with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for Viksit Bharat" on Saturday, August 10, at Yenepoya (Deemed to University). The event was presided over by vice chancellor Dr Vijayakumar M, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). Dr Meenakshi Munshi, former advisor, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India was the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Dr Shama Prasada K, DBT-Wellcome Trust India Intermediate Fellow and professor, Manipal School of Life Sciences, MAHE, Manipal and Dr Soujanya Kaup, DBT-Wellcome Trust India Early Career Fellow and associate professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).
Dr Rekha P D, director, Yenepoya Research Centre delivered the welcome address. The chief guest, Dr Meenakshi Munshi emphasises the significance of aligning research with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In the presidential address, Dr Vijayakumar M, vice chancellor, encouraged established faculty and young scholars to actively participate in grant writing and explore various research funding opportunities. The inaugural ceremony was concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the convener of the symposium, Dr Shamprasad Varija Raghu.
The symposium included a keynote address by Dr Meenakshi Munshi and guest talks by Dr Shama Prasada K and Dr Soujanya Kaup. All the speakers discussed and provided guidelines for successful grant writing. Nearly 130 participants from Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Nitte (Deemed to University), Mangalore University, Manipal University, Central University of Kerala, Sharada Ayurvedic Medical College, St. Aloysius (Deemed to University), NIMHANS actively participated during the deliberation. The event concluded with remarks from Dr Divya Lakshmanan M, co-convener of the symposium, who expressed gratitude to all the speakers, participants, and the organizing committee.
