Ashok Shetty, noted Tulu stage actor of 'Oriyardori Asal' fame, passes away

Mangaluru, Aug 13: Renowned Tulu stage actor and writer Ashok Shetty Amblimogaru, known for his iconic role as coconut plucker Nathu in the super-hit Tulu drama ‘Oriyardori Asal’, passed away on Monday, August 12, at the age of 53.

Ashok fell severely ill at his home in Amblimogaru on Monday morning. Although he was rushed to the hospital, he passed away en route. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

A professional stage actor and writer, Ashok served for many decades in the Kalasangama team of Vijaya Kumar Kodialbail. He made significant contributions to drama, cinema, and daily soaps, and authored numerous plays.

Prominent figures in the Tulu drama community have expressed their condolences on Ashok’s sudden passing.
