Mangaluru: SJEC hosts valedictory programme for FDP

Mangaluru, Aug 13: The valedictory programme for the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Innovation and Excellence in Teaching Practices’ was held on August 10, in Spoorthi Hall, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) Vamanjoor. The event was organized by the department of MCA in collaboration with the library and learning group and the internal quality assurance cell.

It began with an invocation, followed by a warm welcome to the attendees. The event also featured self-exploration reflections from the participants. Certificates were awarded to participants in recognition of their active involvement and engagement throughout the programme.

Dr Venugopal, professor and head of the department of artificial intelligence and data science at NMAMIT, Nitte, served as the chief guest. He addressed the gathering, sharing valuable insights on innovation and excellence in teaching practices. Dr Rio D'Souza, principal of St Joseph Engineering College, gave the presidential address. HR manager, Rakesh Lobo, also graced the occasion.

Dr Hareesh B, associate professor and head of the department of MCA, and Dr Pavana Kumara B, head of IQAC, convenors of the programme were present at the event, exemplifying the strong leadership that contributed to its success. Dr Venugopal was felicitated for his significant contributions to the programme.

Dr Rajesh K, the FDP coordinator, presented a comprehensive report on the programme’s content and outcomes. He detailed that Dr Rio D'Souza led a session on effective pedagogies for generation Z, focusing on engaging today’s learners. Dr Shreeranga Bhat, head of the department of mechanical engineering at SJEC, discussed how educational research can enhance teaching methodologies. Additionally, Dr Kanmani Budhi, professor in the department of telecommunication engineering at BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru, and Dr Vijayalaxmi M, professor in the school of computer science and engineering at KLE Technological University, Hubbali, offered valuable insights into pedagogical strategies for engineering educators. Dr Venugopal also explored the use of generative AI in engineering education.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Priyadarshini, the coordinator of the programme, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to both participants and organizers for their dedication and support. She also acknowledged that the management played a crucial role in the success of the event by providing essential resources and support for its execution. The valedictory programme emphasized the importance of innovation and excellence in teaching practices and celebrated the collaborative effort that was instrumental in the programme’s success.
