Byndoor: MLA Gururaj Gantihole ends overnight protest after assurances from officials

Byndoor, Aug 13: The overnight protest led by Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole concluded on Tuesday afternoon. The protest received support from MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, who visited at 9 am. Later, around 10 am, Deputy commissioner Dr Vidyakumari and SP Dr Arun K visited the site.

A delegation, including MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, BJP district president Kishore, Byndoor Mandal president Deepak Kumar Shetty, held discussions with deputy commissioner Vidyakumari and SP Arun Kumar inside the taluk office. After a half-hour discussion, MLA Gururaj Gantihole submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Gururaj urged the district administration to ensure that the rights of elected representatives are not violated. He emphasized that officials should cooperate with elected representatives in serving the people and should not obstruct the convening of officials' meetings. He warned that he would pursue legal action if any objections arose in this regard.

Responding to the memorandum, deputy commissioner Vidyakumari clarified, "I have not obstructed the rights of the MLA. I have only clarified the legal provisions. Officials' meetings cannot be held in private spaces. The government will discuss and inform about the permissions for holding meetings in the MLA's private offices." Following the assurance that the memorandum would be forwarded to the state government, the protest was called off.
